Here we have a Fantastic Large 18thC 1712 Austrian Tyrolean Master Portrait Antique Painting. A lovely example of a old early 18th century portrait in oil of a Austrian Tyrolean noble, the crest / coat of arms is on the right and dates 1712 above with the initials of the subject below, the historic information is on the reverse of the painting most likely put there by the restorer who reframed it in 1926.
The portrait is that of johann peter sterzinger von sigmundsried zum thurm in der breite, he was from a prolific family of Martin Andreas Sterzinger von Sigmundsried and zum Turm in der Breite, a local war hero of Austria. It is more than likely he was either the son or nephew of this heroic general but a lot more potential research is needed, the painting is unsigned, overall the condition of the painting looks to be in good order and probably originated from Sigmundsried Castle, would look great reunited with a mansion, a stately home, or large house, antique interior designers, 18th century displays, film, television and much much more! Painting in the frame measures 102cm high x 74cm wide and 5cm deep.
